Relationships should provide a place where we
are loved for
being ourselves, and where we are secure in finding comfort and support. Yet we
often have great difficulty identifying and expressing our feelings, needs, and
desires to our loved ones.
Couples and family therapy is a type of
psychotherapy that focuses on understanding, changing, and improving the ways
that a couple or family members interact with each other. Using Bowen theory, I work with couples and
families to:
- Deepen their intimacy and sense of connection
to each other
- Learn and practice constructive communication
habits
- Examine and change family roles, behavioral
patterns, and triangulations
Our first session will begin with a relationship
evaluation. In our second session we will discuss the areas that need work and
make a plan for therapy. The number of sessions that follow will depend on the
length of time a couple or family needs to achieve relationship goals.
